What is Coaching?

One of the most powerful processes, methodologies, practices or techniques to achieve any personal or professional goal is called Coaching . The trained professional (and preferably certified) is called Coach , and the person who goes through a Coaching process is called Coachee .

Coaching derives from the word 'coach/coche', or carriage, and indicates the process by which the Coach will lead the Coachee, that is, along one or more specific roads or journeys, to discover, identify, organize, accompany and achieve the proposed goals.

Coaching is sometimes confused with therapy processes (looking at the past), consulting (proposing a technical solution), counseling (giving a personal opinion) or mentoring (a vision of someone more experienced).

Coaching may remember some of these approaches, however it works and fundamentally develops the CHA - knowledge, skills and attitudes of the Coachee
  which, in an open, curious and courageous way, will focus on the present and the future, motivated for positive actions and sustainable impact, with well-defined goals, a realistic action plan, and an upright, dedicated, personalized, and professional follow-up on the part from Coach, your guide.

 

How does Coaching work?  
 

Coaching works as a structured process, with an end date and punctual and organized steps, where the Coachee will determine the issues and challenges to be faced and the Coach will plan, allocate and monitor the tasks and results to be achieved, internally (purpose, motivation, etc)  or externally (resources, allies, etc).

The Coach will identify with the appropriate techniques of positive psychology, integral sociology, neuroscience, people leadership, project management, emotional intelligence, design thinking, among others, how the journey of discovery, commitment and structured action plan will be conducted, for the /a Coachee achieve the proposed goals within the planned time frame.

Psychology techniques, assessment and personal and professional profile tests help to diagnose the person and needs in the first sessions (a cycle lasts around 10 sessions of 90 minutes each). An action plan with objectives and goals is drawn up (road map) to create, monitor, adjust and celebrate the goals achieved. At the end of the process, there is a retrospective, a final road map and the delivery of post-action tools such as a PDI (Personal Development Plan) or a BMU (Business Model You) canvas. A new cycle is usually programmed to achieve new goals and challenges.
